These Are the Top Children’s Hospitals in Illinois

Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital were ranked among the best in the country according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings.

U.S. News & World Report’s 2020-21 Rankings

Each year, U.S. News & World Report releases its rankings of the top 50 hospitals in 10 pediatric specialties: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology; gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology.

The magazine also ranks the top 10 hospitals on its honor roll list. These are hospitals that are known for delivering exceptional care across multiple specialties. For the second year in a row, no children’s hospitals in Illinois made the magazine’s honor roll.

Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

The Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago was named as one of the top pediatric hospitals on this year’s and last year’s lists. The hospital is associated with Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and treats a range of conditions. Lurie Children’s has a PICU, NICU, Onsite Pediatric Emergency Department, Children’s Wellness Program, and Pediatric Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Services.

Lurie Children’s Hospital was ranked in the top 50 of children’s hospitals across the United States in the following specialties:

University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital

The University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital is a teaching hospital and a children’s general facility. It has a Cardiac ICU, Medical-Surgical ICU, Onsite Emergency Department, and offers Addiction Treatment Services and Bariatric/Weight Control Services. The hospital is nationally ranked in two pediatric specialties: #47 for Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology and #35 for Pediatric Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
